Bonus types, without the hard sell
Welcome offers are marketing structures with rules attached. Understanding the type helps you compare operators on our site — especially when one brand leads with no-wagering spins and another with a deposit match.
Deposit match
The operator credits bonus funds equal to a percentage of a qualifying first deposit, up to a stated cap. Those funds usually carry a wagering requirement before withdrawal. Game contribution tables matter: table games and some slots may count less than 100% toward clearing the bonus.
Free spins
A set number of spins on named slots (or a shortlist). Winnings from those spins may land as cash or as bonus money with further playthrough. Always check which studios’ games are included — that ties directly to the studio angle we use in comparisons.
Package offers
A mix of match funds and spins, sometimes staggered over the first few deposits. Read each stage’s expiry and wagering separately; the headline “total package” figure can hide different rules per day.
Cashback
A percentage of net losses returned over a period, often as bonus money. It softens losing weeks; it does not create a risk-free session. Terms usually exclude certain game categories.
No-wagering spins
Some UK brands, including operators like MrQ on our list, advertise spins where winnings convert to cash without extra playthrough. Caps and eligible games still apply — “no wagering” is not the same as “no rules”.
What to read before you opt in
Minimum deposit, wagering multiple, maximum bet while a bonus is active, eligible studios, expiry, and whether you can opt out. If any line is unclear, skip the offer — you can still play on a licensed site without claiming marketing credit.
